The Juniors lost their Sunday afternoon noon match on February 9 against their city slicker enemies, the Regina Capitals, finishing the spar-on-ice with a disappointing 4-2 tally. The Capitals opened with a goal at 19:38 with Kyle Colwell of Regina (formerly of Calgary and Victoria) shooting one through Assiniboia’s twines with help from Daniel Fiske of Esterhazy.

The Rebels played their best game in the second period, with Riley Skarbon scoring from Dawson Diekrager and Tyde Hutchinson at 17:08 just minutes after another Capitals goal. About five minutes later, the pesky Capitals snuck through Assiniboia’s defences and shot another one in for Regina at 12:46.

But the Rebels pulled together, trolleying a great number two scorcher for Assiniboia as the second drew to a close at 3:52. Although Tyde Hutchinson, with help from Cayden Price and Randy Stowe, pumped this one through Regina’s net, the Capitals answered back quickly enough at 18:53 in the third with another blazer aimed through Assiniboia’s twines. The city squad held the Juniors down for the duration of the third period, keeping the score at 4-2 until the buzzer went off.

The Rebels play the Silver Foxes in the Doug Wickenheiser Arena on Thursday, February 13 then they’ll match against Storm at home on Sunday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Junior Rebels will have another struggle on the ice with the Regina Capitals the following week on Tuesday, February 18 in Regina at the Al Ritchie Arena.
