Local football player Derek Beaubien was chosen by Team Canada to represent Canada on the U16 West All Star Team at the world championship. The world championship will be held January 12 - 19, 2019 at the AT &T stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The International Bowl features a series of practices, team activities, scrimmages and games showcasing the top players from the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic nations ( Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark).
Approximately 70 countries across six continents possess a national federation dedicated solely to American Football. The International Bowl is the largest international football competition.
The U16 West team Derek played on went undefeated throughout the tournament. Derek Beaubien is currently enrolled in Grade 10 at Assiniboia Composite High School.
