What a difference a month makes

What a difference a month makes. Actually, what a huge difference a day makes these days. At a time like this, when our world as we know it has forced a pause, it reinforces my belief of how important the arts truly are to this world.

What a difference a month makes. Actually, what a huge difference a day makes these days.
At a time like this, when our world as we know it has forced a pause, it reinforces my belief of how important the arts truly are to this world.
The arts have the ability to help all of us through good and bad times. Music helps to give one energy and inspiration, while also having the ability to soothe the soul and calm the mind. Artists from around the globe have reached out virtually to share their talents for free to brighten our day. Museums and galleries are offering free virtual tours of their art works. So, if you want to virtually go to the Louvre, in Paris, now is your chance. Old and young have created artwork for their windows to show support for the healthcare field and others helping in the crisis. Yard art (good old chalk) has brightened the paths of those who are able to venture into nature – it is all a blessing.
I would like to thank my fellow Assiniboia Arts Council members for their commitment and work throughout this year, as they understand the value of the arts. It has been a blessing working with them. Although it was a disappointment to have to cancel or postpone the events we had planned, we look towards the future and how we can continue to bring the arts to this community.
It is a blessing we have dedicated and trained people helping our community, province and Canada to carry on as best as possible during these difficult times. Also, thanks to all of you who are doing their part by staying home and practising social distancing.
Keep sharing the love and hope that we will get through this time with a shared consciousness and stronger bonds with one another. As everyone is reminded, we are all connected.
