Assiniboia RCMP warns of increased tool thefts in Assiniboia area

Over the months of May and June, the Assiniboia RCMP has noticed a notable increase in the amount of tools thefts reported within the Town of Assiniboia.

Over the months of May and June, the Assiniboia RCMP has noticed a notable increase in the amount of tools thefts reported within the Town of Assiniboia.

In the various reports, tools were stolen from outbuildings on residential properties, vehicles and a commercial property. These tools have varied in size and value.

The Assiniboia RCMP urges the public to abide by the following steps in order to help prevent future thefts and assist in investigations: maintain a record of the serial numbers of all owned tools; mark tools with a unique identifier, such as ones initials; ensure tools are stored in a securely locked location; regularly check on and inventory ones tools; ensure the exterior of any outbuildings, such as sheds or garages, are well lit at all times; and if possible, install security cameras where tools are stored. The investigations are ongoing.

The Assiniboia RCMP also requests that the public remain vigilant and report any and all suspicious activity possibly related to such thefts.
