This year, Toronto Dominion granted 12 scholarships worth $2,500 for 4-H members who were pursuing postsecondary education in agriculture, ag-science or agri-business at a Canadian university or college in September 2019. Franks will be attending the University of Saskatchewan this year, to study for her Bachelor of Science and Agriculture. Franks is the only 4-H member in Saskatchewan to receive the award this year, which is given to students across Canada who display leadership skills. Recipients also have to show a responsible character and possess a sense of community.

Applicants for the scholarships were reviewed by a selection committee. Aside from being 4-H members in good standing, the scholarship candidates were expected to comprehend directives and meet deadlines. The scholarship hopefuls were also required to write 500-word essays from three topics based on agricultural issues. The essay subjects involved resolving the following complex and thought-provoking questions; What does sustainable agriculture mean to you? How is technology changing agriculture? How does agriculture impact your life? The scholarship winners also had to explain how the scholarships would benefit their educational goals.
