Kindersley RCMP encountered a questionable package

The RCMP were called to an apartment on West Road in Kindersley to assist the Sherriff’s Department with an eviction earlier on June 29.

The RCMP were called to an apartment on West Road in Kindersley to assist the Sherriff’s Department with an eviction earlier on June 29.

The 67- year-old male tenant from Kindersley was escorted to the hospital by crisis workers for treatment of a pre-existing condition.

RCMP members located firearms and ammunition and observed a suspicious object. This inspection led to the Explosive Disposal Unit being called to attend. An immediate evacuation of the building followed. 

The RCMP announced the Explosives Disposal Unit would complete a thorough exploration of the premises on Monday evening.

After the investigation was over, the tenants would be allowed to return to their homes.

The RCMP thanked the community for respecting their request and for avoiding the area of West Road for public safety reasons.

The investigation in Kindersley was reported to be ongoing on the evening of June 29 with no charges being laid as of yet.
