The Rebels began in strength on their first home game in the Assiniboia Civic Centre Arena for the 2019-2020 season by slamming the puck along the ice and through the enemy’s net at 2:55 during the game’s start against West Central Rage – a team visiting from Kerrobert – a town 35 kilometres north of Kindersley. The first of goal for the game on the evening of Friday, October 11 was an earner by Number 4, Alex Hicks. The five-foot ten inch (177.8 cm) forward from Coronach propelled this winner through the Rage’s net for Assiniboia with aid of Number 8, Cayden Price and Number 11, Clay Bouvier.
In another game-decider, the Rebels shot another one way past West Central’s baseline at 13:25 with Moose Jaw forward Jordan Johnson leading the charge, helped by 18-year-old Dawson Diekrager from Milestone and Keegan Coffin of Mortlach.
But then West Central Rage scrapped back a few times in the second period beginning at 11:02 with an unassisted shot through Assiniboia’s mesh by rookie, Adam Duhaime. The Rebels quickly skated over the frontlines to shoot another goal in at 10:16 with Dawson Duff of Regina storming through, aided by Number 6, Reese Rutko of Mossbank. Soon after, Cayden Price hurled an unassisted torpedo through West Central’s territory at 8:44. Next, the last goal of the evening for West Central Rage happened at 7:26, when Brayden Shultz and Avery Cholin skated over the Rebels’ line of defence to shoot one in for Kerrobert. Before the second ended, Cayden Price, Alex Hicks and Tyde Hutchinson – the 6-foot four inch (193 cm) forward from Scout Lake – all united to seal the period off in Assiniboia’s continuing favour with a keeper at 3:09.
In the third, the Southern Rebels scored at the top with more unified play from Assiniboia as Matthew Roblin, Alex Hicks and Tyde Hutchinson grouped to score a torcher for the town at 17:48. The Rebels ended the evening with a 7-2 home victory after Tyde Hutchinson notched another volley through West Central Rage’s grid with Reese Rutko’s support as the game drew to a close at 4:49.
