Albertan driver arrested for possession of cocaine close to Maidstone

At about 9 a.m. on May 20, an eastbound vehicle was stopped on Highway 16 near Maidstone by Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services for a broken windshield.

The officer made several observations, leading the officer to suspect there were drugs in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for a drug offence – a search of the vehicle incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately one kilogram of cocaine.

The driver, 47-year-old Dale Frederick Slywka of Beaumont, Alberta was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Slywka was released for a court date on August 25, 2020, at 10 a.m. in the Lloydminster Provincial Court.
