A nice, quiet crowd of dedicated music lovers showed up at the Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia to enjoy the gentle, soothing sounds of a three-piece folk group called ‘100 Mile House’.

The weather was bitterly cold, but that didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of either the performing group or the appreciative crowd. A soft, sweet blend of male and female harmonies filled the Steven Wald Memorial auditorium, much to the delight of the crowd.

The group describes itself as offering “quality musicianship, finely crafted songs, and heartwarming stories” and they are not far wrong. Their impressive list of achievements includes winning the Emerging Artist Award at the 2014 Edmonton Folk Music Festival, plus, their albums have received two Western Canadian Music Award nominations, two Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting grand prizes, and three Edmonton Music awards. It may sound trite and ’cliche’, but truly a “good time was had by all”.
