Style Dayne grew up on a ranch near Assiniboia, where he was involved with the local 4-H. Recently, he created a sci-fi thriller titled Contact for the Isolation Short Film Festival. Dayne's latest production was based and shot in his home province of Saskatchewan.

The festival presenting this film and many other Canadian shorts begins at 8 p.m. EST or 6 p.m. Saskatchewan time on May 23. The link for the Saturday evening festival can be followed at https://www.isolationshortfilmfest.com/. (Note that the Live Awards Show begins streaming at 6:30 EST).

Style Dayne is remembered for his role in the Hollywood movie, Deadpool, an American superhero movie based on a Marvel Comics character from 2016.

Dayne returned to southern Saskatchewan from a COVID-19-induced isolation in Vancouver to film Contact. The creation of the film Contact involved the collaboration of artists across the globe from Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Germany, Toronto, the Gulf Islands, Northern B.C., Saskatchewan and Vancouver.

The film is described as “One man’s journey to make contact with someone, when there’s no one to talk to.”

The short was filmed in RM 228 near Lacadena,106.8 kilometres northwest of Swift Current. Dayne explained that he was in the area to help some relatives.

“It’s truly a treat to come home and spend time with the family, while creating something that’s getting national recognition with peers, co-creators and mentors from across the globe,” Style Dayne said when describing the creative process behind Contact.

Contact had been selected from over 800 submissions from across Canada. The movie will be streamed live from Toronto on May 23 via YouTube with 29 other Canadian films shot in isolation.

The festival is presented by Bell Media, Cineplex, ACTRA, Mann Casting and Stay At Home Heroes.
