Marla Brandon is retiring at the end of the month after a 38-year career in banking. The RBC held a farewell day with a cake on October 18 so that customers and community members could visit with Brandon. She has been at the RBC branch in Assiniboia since 1993 and began with RBC in Capri in March 1986. She started her career at the Credit Union. “I’ve really grown with the bank,” Brandon stated noting that there have been a lot of changes in the banking sector in the past four decades.
For Brandon, one of the best things about her job was “all the people that I have had the opportunity to meet.” Throughout the day, she shared memories, stories and hugs with customers. She recalled the many changes in businesses in the community and the growth of the town. Several former bank employees also stopped in to visit.
Brandon noted that she had opened education saving accounts for children and now they have become parents and she is opening these accounts for their children. She also caps her career with fond memories of her work achievements. “I am super proud of the RBC Days of Service,” she added. This spring she participated in Days of Service in Willow Bunch, Limerick, St. Victor and Assiniboia.
Brandon’s future plan includes traveling, spending more time with family, volunteering and hobbies. “I’ll still be in the community,” she added.
