Chamber’s Excellent Service seminar was well attended

The Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce held an Excellent Service seminar at the Prince of Wales theatre on January 31. Gordon Wyatt from the Southeast Regional College was the educator.

The Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce held an Excellent Service seminar at the Prince of Wales theatre on January 31. Gordon Wyatt from the Southeast Regional College was the educator.

Wyatt who facilitates Management Essentials and Customer Service workshops, plus a variety of other topics  The three and half hour sessions included defining customer service, establishing attitude plus other ways to assure your customers keep coming back.

There was a great deal of discussion amongst the group about dealing with difficult customers and the intervention of social media into our everyday purchasing activities. He finished with 10 things you can do to wow customers every time.

Some of the comments after were: “It was worth my time to be here”; “I just wish all of our employees could be exposed to this type of education toward positive customer service”; “It was good”; and “Congratulations to the Chamber, and hopefully they will have more educational seminars that will benefit my business.”

In other Chamber news, the Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce is busy planning for their spring Expo-Focus on Business and Trade Show, to be held April 20 and 21. The Expo will feature home-based businesses as well as businesses from the area. The hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 20 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. There will be a set-up time on Thursday, April 19 at 5 p.m. and on Friday morning.

Laurie Stianson and Linda Hall are chairing the Trade Show. They are aiming to make it an event for everyone, which will include a fashion show and a Kids Corner.

A presentation of the town budget by the Mayor and Town Administrator is planned during the Chamber’s annual general meeting in April. Reminders will be e-mailed to Chamber members in the near future.
