Big Sky Agencies hosts grand opening in Glentworth

Big Sky Agencies held a grand opening on February 16. The agency is housed in the new building on Main Street in Glentworth. The insurance agents, Tara and Cole Labbee, and owner Deidre Nelson, were there. They were joined by Sharon Sherven, who operates the Big Sky Agency in Mankota, and by Wendy Allingham, also an insurance agent, for the ribbon cutting ceremony. There was a good crowd in attendance for coffee, doughnuts and giveaways that morning.

Glentworth Legion at

District Cribbage Competition

Glentworth Legion members were in Neville to compete in the District Cribbage competition on February 17. The team of four consisting of Elvin Mitchell, Clem Boisvert and Roy and Anne Burns won their division with some good games. The team event saw Allen Nelson and Wayne Barrett come out as winners as well.

The Legion Zone Commander, Ted NagelĀ  of Mossbank, won the singles that day. These people all advance to the Provincials that will be held in Prince Albert on March 16 and 17.

Glentworth Open Bonspiel

Glentworth Curling Club hosted their annual bonspiel from February 5 to 11 with 17 rinks participating from the local club as well as the surrounding areas. The event always has some avid curling fans to cheer on their favorite teams. Winners were as follows: A Event- 1st- Arlene Wilson, Gordie Wilson, Kevin Williamson, Tom Collins, Shawn Williamson. 2nd- Boyd Federink, Bill Flynn, Larry McLeod, Brad Federink. 3rd- Clem Boisvert, Garth Taylor, Calvin Gavelin, Dallas Leduc. 4th- Alex Falconer, Ian Wilson, Larson Flynn, Larryssa Clark. B Event- 1st- Walter Wall, Tracey Kuffner, Louise Popescul, Lara Moroz. 2nd- Albert St. Jacques, Randy Loewen, Bill Greffard, Jeff Cheesman, Leonard MacDonald. 3rd- Kyla McLean, Tracy Johnson, Tanya Fehr, Marilyn Zak. 4th- Richard Rieder, Kevin Gillespie, Kurt Silbernagel, Dylan Chabot. The rink is still busy with the square draw playoffs underway.

Social Notes

Word was received on the passing of Betty Baragar on February 14 in Gravelbourg at the age of 62. Betty, nee Barker, was born and raised in the Mankota area. Betty and her husband, Dennis, farmed and ranched in the Wallard area for many years. The funeral service was held in the Catholic Church in Ponteix on February 19 with Pastor Brad Julien officiating.
