Canadian military war veterans from Assiniboia, Irvin Tubbs, on the left, and J.J. Oncescu, who are members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #17 in Assiniboia, stand at the cenotaph in front of the Assiniboia Town Office that commemorates war veterans from the community. The plaques list 30 names of those who died in action in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, and 24 names for those who did not return from the Second World War between 1939 to 1945 from the small community of Assiniboia. The Town of Assiniboia proclaimed November 5 to 11 as Veterans Week. A Remembrance Day ceremony will take place on November 11 at St. George’s parish hall. Those attending are asked to be seated by 10 a.m.
