Skating Carnival

Fantastic beings could be found at the Assiniboia Civic Centre on March 17 for the Assiniboia Figure Skating club’s Carnival. The theme “Fantastic Beings and where to find them” was an inspiration from Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. Each skater performed in costumes of mermaids, unicorns, fairy beings, dragons, monsters, and other fantastic creatures.
The Barb Peterson memorial award was presented during the evening. This award is given annually to a dedicated, enthusiastic skater showing good sportsmanship by Peterson’s family in memory of her dedication and promotion of skating with the Assiniboia Figure Skating Club. This year the award went to Lilly Kwasnicki, Madison Wick, and Alyssa Kwasnicki.
The Assiniboia Figure Skating Club teaches fundamentals of skating to all levels during the winter months.  Coaches include Tasha Hoff, Justine Bamford, Holly Silzer and Michelle Marcenko with assistance by Alyssa Kwasnicki and Rain Hoff.
