Fall sales underway at Assiniboia Livestock Auction

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held its regular cull cow and bull auction on October 11 with 116 head sold. Heiferettes sold between $1.00 to $1.20 per lb. D1 and D2 cows sold between $0.80 and $0.90 per lb. D3 cows sold from $0.70 to $0.80 per lb.

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held its regular cull cow and bull auction on October 11 with 116 head sold. Heiferettes sold between $1.00 to $1.20 per lb. D1 and D2 cows sold between $0.80 and $0.90 per lb. D3 cows sold from $0.70 to $0.80 per lb. Canner cows sold from $0.40 to $0.60 per lb. Slaughter bulls sold from $1.00 to $1.15 per lb.
The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held a pre-sorted Angus-Hereford cross calf Internet sale on October 14 with 1,551 head sold. There were seven categories of steers up for sale. Yearling steers weighing 400 to 450 lbs. averaged $2.54 per lb., selling up to $2.65 per lb. This is up from the September prices. Those in the weight category of 450 to 500 lbs. sold higher on average at $2.48 and sold up to $2.65 per lb., while those 500 to 550 lbs. sold on average at $2.38 per lb. and sold up to $2.57 per lb.
Yearling steers weighing 550 to 600 lbs. sold on average at $2.28 per lb., selling up to $2.35 per lb., while those 600 to 650 lbs. sold on average at $2.23 per lb. up to $2.29 per lb. Yearling steers weighing between 650 and 700 lbs. sold on average at $2.18 per lb. reaching up to $2.26 per lb., while those weighing 700 to 800 lbs. sold at $2.09 per lb. on average and reached up to $2.18 per lb.
There were eight weight categories of heifers for sale. Yearling heifers in the weight category of 300 to 400 lbs. averaged $2.16 per lb. and sold up to $2.38 per lb. Those weighing 400 to 450 lbs. sold at $2.13 per lb. on average and sold up to $2.23 per lb., while those 450 to 500 lbs. sold on average at $2.01 per lb. and sold up to $2.19 per lb. Yearling heifers weighing 500 to 550 lbs. averaged $1.98 per lb., selling up to $2.05 per lb.
Yearling heifers in the 550 to 600 lb. weight category sold on average at $1.95 per lb. up to $2.00 per lb., while those weighing 600 to 650 lbs. sold on average at $1.93 per lb. and reached $2.00 per lb. Yearling heifers in the 650 to 700 lb. weight category sold on average for $1.82 per lb. selling up to $1.98 per lb. Young heifers weighing 700 to 800 lbs. sold on average at $1.78 per lb. reaching up to $1.90 per lb.
The Assiniboia Livestock Auction will hold its next pre-sorted Angus-Hereford cross calf internet sales on October 21 and October 28, a pre-sorted Charolais cross and/or Angus cross internet sale on October 24, a regular cull cow and cull sale on October 25, and a pre-sorted Charolais cross and/or exotic calf and yearling sale on October 31.
